Porcelain Veneers
are thin but strong pieces of beautiful esthetic porcelain that are customized for your teeth by our dental laboratory. Dr. Neary bonds them to your teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.
The veneers Dr. Neary places can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They are often a great alternative to crowns and are frequently the best solution for treating many dental conditions including changing the shade of your teeth and correcting misaligned teeth.
With proper hygiene and care, porcelain veneers can last a very long time and give you a beautiful smile for many years to come.
Porcelain Veneers can:
-
create a beautiful, white smile.
-
align crooked teeth.
-
recontour misshapen teeth.
-
change the color of discolored or stained teeth.
-
change the shape and contour of teeth that are too small or too large.
-
close gaps and uneven spaces between teeth.
-
restore chipped or broken teeth.

Before After
The Porcelain Veneer process
In addition to a preoperative examination, x-rays and consultation, veneers usually requires two visits to complete. Local anesthetic may be necessary to make you more comfortable during the procedure. The teeth are lightly prepared and shaped to allow for the thickness of the veneer. An impression of your teeth is taken and a shade (color) will then be chosen by you and Dr. Neary. Your teeth will have interim veneers (temporaries) placed which are made out of an acrylic material. These are worn for about 2 weeks until your next visit when the temporaries are removed and the new restorations are placed.
At the second visit, the teeth will be cleansed and prepared with a series of gels and or liquids to achieve a strong bond. Dr. Neary then places a bonding cement between the tooth and veneer and a special curing light is used to harden the cement and set the bond.
Following the seating of your veneers, our staff will give you care instructions to help maintain them. Proper hygiene, which includes brushing AND flossing(!), will help extend the longevity of your new veneers.
